The entire Umuaka community was few days ago thrown into serious wailing and mourning after the sad news got to town that death has snatched one of her highly rated international sports star and gold medalist, Ndidi Nwosu.
Ndidi Nwosu for some of you who never knew of such a star from Uba Umuaka, was a wheel chair bound athlete who was into Paralympics powerlifting. She actively took part in the Paralympics in Brazil and Australia as well as Commonwealth Games. It is on record that in each tournament she participated in as a powerlifter, she won gold medal for herself and for Nigeria.
Due to her success and excellent performance in the last Paralympics, the then Imo State governor presented her with a car and cash gifts.
According to Wikipedia, “Ndidi Nwosu is a Nigerian powerlifter who had an upset victory at the 2016 Summer Paralympics. She lifted 140kg”.
Married in Eziachi in Orlu, Ndidi was a cheerful and lovely Akalite who made the community and the nation proud during her time as an athlete. According to a family member who did not want his name mentioned, Ndidi died after a brief illness and her burial has been fixed on April 17, 2020.
