Honourable Kenneth Obioha, the youthful Obinwanne born former chairman of Njaba Local Government last week played host to Umuaka Times when the newspaper went to present to the politician, his Covid19 Charity Award. During the presentation of the award by Umuaka Times, some top Obinwanne men and women which included the PG of the community, woman leader Mrs Florence Orisakwe, Chief Celestine Agu, the traditional prime minister of the community, Justin Ehirim, John Kennedy Okpoko and a host of others deeply expressed their happiness over the recognition by Umuaka Times.

When Umuaka Times explained the reason for the award, the explanation was followed by a round of applause and commendations from the audience. In his speech, the recipient Hon Kenneth Obioha thanked Umuaka Times and promised to work with Umuaka Times in carrying out developmental projects in the community. He further stated that one of the best things any human being can  do in the world is to make people happy and feed through one’s efforts.

While responding to the presentation by Hon Kenneth Obioha, Onowu Celestine Agu told the audience that Hon Kenneth Obioha is their son whom they are very proud of. According to him, Hon Obioha is not new to charity. He commended Umuaka Times for spotting and honouring him.

A critical look by Umuaka Times into the time Hon Obioha was the chairman of Njaba Local Government, the following facts were established. Hon Obioha graded 50 kilometer rural roads across the entire 21 communities in the local council. He also rehabilitated the Umuaka Roundabout, Uba to Nkwo Ikpa road and Okwudor Awo Omemma road. Umuaka Times also gathered that Hon Obioha was paying salaries to the workers of the LG as at when due.

As a peace maker himself, he made sure peace reigned during his tenure as the chairman of  Njaba Local Coucil. This move earned him the DOI award which means Dean Order of Imo. The award was from the state government.
