The night of second January 2024 was a night to remember especially in Umuezikoha Uba Umuaka. The people of Umuezikoha, their friends, well-wishers and more, gathered at the palace of HRH, Eze Henry Izuchukwu Ojinnaka to mark the gala night of Umuezikoha Day. During the event which pulled out several high profile personalities of Umuezikoha origin, activities began from 10 pm and ended in the early hours of the following day.<\/p>\n

First, the two gentlemen who anchored the event in the persons of Mr Chris Iwuji and Chief Louis Duru did their best to thrill the audience with their jokes especially Umuaka made jokes. It was like a contest between the two men as they cracked their jokes one after the other.<\/p>\n

After observing a high number of guests and a sizable audience, the two MCs started to call to the high table, the VIPs who were at the event. After that came the opening prayers which were said by Apostle Chidi Iwuoha, a son of the soil. Immediately he ended his opening prayers, it was time for the presentation of kola nuts. After blessing the kola nuts, the kola nuts were passed round and Apostle Iwuoha was again called to come and speak on Christianity. He preached on salvation and appealed to the people to give their lives to Jesus.<\/p>\n

The Odowara Bute music group which was present was called up to perform. The performance of the group indeed thrilled the audience as Chief John Alakwe was on the microphone as the lead vocalist.<\/p>\n

The moment the group ended its show, the guest speaker Dr Obinna Duruji was called upon to speak. As characteristic of him, he spoke deeply using proverbs and idiomatic expressions to pass his messages. He extolled the virtues of the late Chief Ben Okpara, Sam Udeagwu and others as the Umuezikoha men who demonstrated what he called Can Do Spirit. He appealed to Umuezikoha youths to continue to trade on the right path of life and face challenges of life with fresh ideas.<\/p>\n

Despite the hopeless situation in Nigeria today, Dr Duruji still agrees that the youths are the leaders of tomorrow \u201cbut it depends on who you make your role model.\u201d<\/p>\n

After the speech by Dr Duruji, the event continued with a lot of entertainment segments from some selected local entertainers who were present.<\/p>\n

Youthful Professor of Medicine, Kingsley Obioha was the chairman of the gala night event and he was sitting with some other high profile personalities.<\/p>\n
