On Thursday, 9 January 2025, the Anokwute family, friends and relations received a kind of visitors many people or families will never wish to receive. On this day, the remains of their 55 year old wife, sister, mother and aunt, Mrs Alice Nnenna Anokwute (nee Oguwike) were committed to mother earth after a brief illness everyone assumed was not serious.<\/p>\n

By 7 am, the youths of Umuduruorji Achara had started to gather at the premises of Umuaka Community Hospital in order to take home the corpse of the hardworking woman. About an hour later, the motorcade was ready to move as the remains of the deceased were already inside the ambulance.<\/p>\n

Umuaka Times reporters who covered the burial ceremony first arrived at the compound of her father in Ezealameruo in Ndiuhu Achara for a stopover as a sign of respect to her people. The kinsmen and women of the community were already waiting and wailing when Umuaka Times arrived. Shortly, the motorcade arrived and many more people broke down in tears. Kola nuts were served and a short prayer was said and an elderly member of the family used a bottle of hot drink and poured libation on the ground and prayed to God to receive the soul of \u201cAunty Alice\u201d in His paradise.<\/p>\n

Off the people took in few minutes time to Umuduruorji Achara for the body of the late Mrs Alice Nnenna Anokwute (nee Oguwike) to lie in state at her husband\u2019s place.<\/p>\n

The lying in state did not last up to an hour before it was announced that it was time for the celebration of a requiem Mass at St Paul\u2019s Anglican Church Achara. The requiem Mass was attended by many who came from near and far including several organizations. During the Mass, the officiating priest extolled the virtues of the woman and equally prayed for her soul to gain eternal rest. At the end of the Mass, her remains were again taken to her husband\u2019s house where the interment was done around 12 midday.<\/p>\n

Many people and organizations who attended the burial of the late Mrs Alice Nnenna Anokwute testified that the deceased Christian mother was highly industrious and had deep fear of God in her. Many organizations like women\u2019s groups, church groups youth organizations and the representatives of the United Nations Ambassadors and Volunteers were present during the burial.<\/p>\n
