Last week, 7 young lawyers from Umuaka were called to bar after completing their law degree programs at various universities in Nigeria. Each of the young lawyers spoke exclusively with Umuaka Times.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Excerpts:<\/strong><\/p>\n

My name is Miss Miriam ChinasaIkwu from Achara. I am a graduate of Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT). I did my Law School in Port Harcourt Campus in Rivers State.<\/p>\n

I was inspired to read law because of the poor masses who often have no one to speak for them, seeing myself standing up for such people will always give me joy and I would like to practice.<\/p>\n

The academic journey, hmm, it wasn’t easy at all. At first I was admitted into Psychology Department, transferring to Law Faculty took a lot from me, finally I did it.<\/p>\n

Honestly my university days were rough, given that it was just my parents that I could run to for financial needs. The mental stress at some point was extremely heavy, not to talk of sleepless nights of studies given that I never sorted for one day but as God may have it, I finally succeeded.<\/p>\n

My Call to Bar is this week Wednesday, being 9th of July 2025. Remember I started the law program in 2016.<\/p>\n

My advice to Umuaka ladies trying to read Law is that they should strive harder and never give up; even when they are married they should never give up.<\/p>\n

My vote of thanks goes to my parents, Chief and Lolo Nick Ikwu (aka Chief Omeudo); they are the real heroes, I could remember my first year as a law student, they paid over 500k that was in 2017, I was worried but my dad came through for me. My siblings were amazing and supported me morally, Amb. UjuOnwudiwe, (IgoloNjaba), Rev. Father Emmanuel Eburuaja, Rev. Fr. Charles Anagwu and KingsonChidubemNwoke believed in me even when others didn’t. I appreciate them all.<\/p>\n
