As political activities begin to gather momentum ahead of the 2027 elections in Njaba Local Government Area, supporters of the NDC candidate Hon. Obinna Orgazi popularly known as Brainbox have moved to clarify what they describe as misconceptions surrounding his relationship with former PDP candidate, Ezengwori, the current house member representing Njaba LGA.<\/p>\n

In a statement issued by Jeffrey Ezenwa, Founder of Jeffrey Ezenwa Awareness Networks (J.E.A.N.S.) and Secretary of Camp Brainbox, the group said recent political discussions have generated narratives that require clarification in the interest of public understanding. According to the statement, Brainbox neither entered into any formal political arrangement with Ezengwori nor stepped down for him during the build-up to the 2023 elections.<\/p>\n

The group recalled that Brainbox participated in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) primary election in 2022 and narrowly lost the party’s ticket by a margin of one vote, polling 15 votes against Ezengwori’s 16.<\/p>\n

Despite losing the nomination, the statement noted that Brainbox subsequently supported the party’s candidate and contributed to the PDP campaign efforts during the general election.<\/p>\n

Supporters of the aspirant further claimed that Ezengwori had, on several occasions and in different public fora, acknowledged Brainbox’s leadership qualities and publicly stated that he would not contest against him if Brainbox had emerged as the party’s candidate.<\/p>\n

Looking ahead to the 2027 electoral cycle, the group expressed optimism that if Brainbox secures the nomination of the NDC, political stakeholders, including incumbent lawmaker Hon. Ozioma Ebonine, would support what it described as the most qualified candidate. However, the statement emphasized that should political opponents decide to contest the election, the Brainbox camp remains prepared for a democratic contest and would respect the outcome of a free, fair and credible election.<\/p>\n

“We welcome the opportunity to meet any opponent at the polls and allow the people to decide,” the statement said.<\/p>\n

Drawing parallels with previous elections in the area, the group cited historical examples to underscore the principle that elective offices are open to all qualified candidates.<\/p>\n

The statement referenced the 1983 election in which Hon. John Unaeze of Umuaka defeated incumbent Hon. Herbert Dikeocha, as well as the 2019 contest in which Charles Abia of Okwudor challenged incumbent Hon. Uju Onwudiwe.<\/p>\n

According to the group, these examples demonstrate that democratic competition remains an essential feature of representative governance and that no political office should be regarded as the exclusive preserve of any individual.<\/p>\n

The statement further acknowledged the performance of Hon. Ozioma Ebonine, noting that the lawmaker had exceeded certain expectations in office. Nevertheless, it argued that the people of Umuaka and the wider Njaba area deserve the highest quality of leadership available.<\/p>\n

As political alignments continue to evolve ahead of 2027, observers in Njaba believe that the coming months will witness increased consultations, negotiations and declarations by aspirants seeking to represent the people.<\/p>\n

While no official nominations have yet been concluded by the major political parties as at mid last week, the statement signals an early indication of what could become a highly competitive political contest in Njaba.<\/p>\n

Political analysts say the ultimate decision will rest with the electorate, who will once again determine the direction of leadership through the ballot box for ndiNjaba.<\/p>\n
