The youths from Umuezeala Uba Umuaka last week held a crucial meeting on how to fight the scourge of mkpuru mmiri and igbo smoking in the community. A day before the meeting was held, town criers had gone round the kindred and announced the importance of the meeting and decreed that any youth who failed to attend the meeting would have himself to blame after the meeting.<\/p>\n

During the meeting, a lot of issues was discussed but the issue of igbo smoking and mkpuru mmiri use took the centre stage. The youths generally resolved that the fight on mkpuru mmiri would also include igbo smoking, sales and distribution.<\/p>\n

When Umuaka Times called on the top officials of the youths, they informed the newspaper that the Umuezeala youths have decided to deal ruthlessly with any youth who engages in igbo smoking and mkpuru mmiri use. They also resolved that they would not flog any offender caught in any \u00a0act they have prohibited but would make sure that the fellow regrets his action.<\/p>\n

Another issue of interest the youths deliberated on was the act of dropping out of secondary school by some of their members. After a careful observation and questioning of those who dropped out of school, it was established that none of them had good reason for doing so. As a result of that, they ordered them to go back to school as soon as possible and continue where they stopped.<\/p>\n

The meeting which was a harvest of benefits also looked into the fate of jobless youths in the community. On this issue, some of them who spoke during the meeting told the gathering that it was due to scarcity of funds that kept them jobless. On this, another positive resolution was taken in their favour. The decision reached holds that they Umuezeala Youths Forum would shop for funds and assist those who want to learn any work among the jobless ones.<\/p>\n

At the end of the meeting, the whole youths went to their different homes happy over the good decisions taken at the crucial meeting.\u00a0 Now that all these decisions have been taken, the next action now is implementation.<\/p>\n
