Covid19 Palliatives: Umuada Umuele USA, leading the path!
4 min readMonday 13 July, 2020 had come and gone leaving exciting echoes in Umuele Amazano Autonomous Community. On this special day, the highly productive, beautiful and supportive Umuada Umuele in the United States remembered their parents, brothers and sisters at home and sent home food items to cushion the harsh effects of Covid19 in the community. The project to send relief materials home was initiated be Eziada Julia Akunna Duru while the group, Umuada Umuele USA which was founded by Eziada Cynthia Ifunanya Nnaocha among others, about a year ago, pulled resource together and came up with the project which Umuaka Times can adequately confirm was a big success.
After several weeks of planning and intense brainstorming, the Umuada Umuele USA sent home a huge sum of money and bought food items such as several bags of rice, several cartons of noodles and several bags of beans and distributed among all the villages in the Umuele Amazano community.
The food sharing event which took place on Monday 13 July 2020, at the palace of His Royal Highness, Eze Caesar Ugochukwu Duruegbusuo, recipients who came for the event were told to strictly maintain social distancing. This instruction, Umuaka Times gathered was adhered to by the entire people who were present. In order to reduce the number of recipients, the food items were shared among each village in the community and each village according to the findings made by Umuaka Times got 4 bags of rice, 3 bags of beans and several cartons of noodles through their representatives.
The Umuaka Times reporter who witnessed the event confirmed that around 5pm, the representatives had started to arrive at the Eze’s Palace and in less than an hour, every village had received her own items in an orderly and peaceful manner and left.
Umuaka Times tried to speak with some of the people who were present at the event. The first was the traditional ruler of the community, His Royal Highness Eze Caesar Ugochukwu Duruegbusuo who is also the chairman of Njaba Council of Traditional Rulers. Eze Caesar, as he is fondly addressed by many in the community, used the opportunity to pray for his Umuada. He described the collective action of the Umuada Umuele USA as unique and amazing. “For this action, they have really demonstrated to us that they indeed were properly breast-fed. I cannot end this without thanking their husbands because if their husbands refused to support the project, it would have failed.” The royal father went further to pray that God will always protect the Umuada in all their private and collective endeavours.
The chairlady, women’s group, Umuduruomumu Umuele Amazano Autonomous Community Mrs. Cordelia Agwubuo who was interviewed by Umuaka Times, deeply expressed her happiness over the relief materials sent to them by their daughters. She thanked God for making their daughters remember them in times of their need and asked God to also remember the Umuada in times of their need also.
Another woman who spoke with Umuaka Times reporter who visited the venue was Mrs. Esther Ugbede. Mrs. Ugbede who is the chairlady of Umudiekwere Umuezeala in the community, told Umuaka Times that it would always be good for the Umuada Umuele, and “God will also guide and protect us who received these items. Any attempt by anybody to fight these daughters, Holy Ghost fire will destroy it.”
Mr. Augustine Anusionwu, the chairman of Dimokoro community also expressed his happiness over the presentations from their daughters. He assured them, the Umuada Umuele USA, that they will continue to pray for them and keep the rules required to prevent the spread of Covid19 in the Umuele community.

Obidimma Juliana, the chairlady of Umuoka who also thanked the Umuada Umuele group appealed to everybody to continue to pray for those who donated the relief items for them at any given time.
The Umuada Umuele USA group was founded about a year ago. Already the group has about 50 members on its roster and still counting. The brains behind the foundation of the group are Eziada Cynthia Uzowuru Nnaocha and other acting executive members. Each executive member represents a village from Umuele Amazaano. Umuaka Times gathered that Eziada Julia Akunna Duru, Eziada Cynthia Ifunanya Nnaocha, (Julia) and Eziada Angela Nwabuzor Ikeme represent Umuezeala Umuele. Eziada Nwanneamaka Onwubuariri, represents Umuehiri Umuele. Eziada Joy Chichi Gershon Nwaiwu represents Umuoka Umuele and Eziada Chinyere Anuliugo represents Umudim Umuele. For now, the group is yet to have a representative from Umudiochi.
