2 min read

A former NSO top official and also a former governorship candidate in Rivers State who is now a traditional ruler in Woji Obiakpo LGA of Rivers State has expressed his condolences to the family of Chief Vitalis Mbagwu of Ibele Autonomous Community over the death of his wife, the late Mrs Phoebe Mbagwu who passed on to glory a couple of months ago. Speaking to Umuaka Times reporters during the burial ceremonies of the late Mrs Mbagwu, the royal father confirmed that late Mrs Mbagwu was like a full family member to his family and to many others who closely knew her.

Another issue the royal father raised was the issue of insecurity in the state. According to him, before he and his people left Port Harcourt for Umuaka, the security report they got was that Orlu and indeed Umuaka were the hotbed of insecurity in the state. Some people really went further and advised them not to make the “deadly” trip to Orlu as nobody would guarantee their safety.

Because of the warnings about the situation in Orlu, the royal father managed to make the trip without his royal dressing and the top personalities who were supposed to travel with him.

But on getting to Umuaka and Ibele precisely, the royal father was amazed to see a community swimming in the ocean of peace and orderliness. “Since we arrived here in Ibele, we have never witnessed any form of social disorganization, not to talk of insecurity. The community is so sweet,” the royal father told Umuaka Times in an exclusive interview.

Expressing his discomfort over the false alarm the country had been fed with concerning the insecurity situation in Orlu, the royal father told Umuaka Times that he would use the opportunity of his eyewitness experience in Umuaka to disclose to Nigerians that Orlu is not as bad as people claim it is.

While addressing the Ibele Council of Chiefs, the royal father deeply displayed his appreciation over the warm welcome he and his people had so far received from the community. He sympathized with them over the death of their wife, the late Mrs Phoebe Mbagwu and prayed to God to comfort the community.

The royal father and his people later made a presentation of traditional gifts which they gave to the bereaved family.
