20 scholarships underway for Umuaka Girls Technical School.

Not fewer than 20 students of Girls Secondary Technical School Umuaka will be awarded scholarships to pursue their academic careers in the year 2026 and beyond. Umuaka Times gathered that this kind gesture to encourage the girl-child education in Umuaka is being powered by a diasporan organization known as Sons and Daughters of Umuaka (Umuaka Youths Association Tri-State branch in New Jersey, New York and Connecticut otherwise known as Tri states.

In an exclusive interview Umuaka Times had with Mr Chinedu Okoro, the current president of the organization, it was disclosed that the groundbreaking initiative is scheduled to take place in January 2026. The program tagged Scholarship and Youth Empowerment Project will exclusively focus on the education of the girl child in Umuaka.
speaking to Umuaka Times, Mr Okoro disclosed that “the youths have demonstrated exceptional dedication, unity, and hard work to bring this vision to life. Through this project, they aim not only to make a meaningful impact in the community but also to inspire academic excellence among students in Umuaka. This initiative reflects their deep commitment to giving back to their homeland and empowering future generations through education.”
A press statement titled, Scholarship and Youth Empowerment Program issued from the office of the president of the organization which was signed by Mr Chinedu Okoro, reads:
“Sons & Daughters of Umuaka (Umuaka Youth Association) – Tri-State Branch (New Jersey, New York, and Connecticut), under the leadership of Mr. Chinedu Okoro, are set to make history as the first youth organization to award scholarships and certificates to the Top 20 students of Umuaka Girls Technical School. This groundbreaking initiative is scheduled to take place in January 2026.

In addition Umuaka Youths New Jersey has pledged to continue developing impactful youth-focused initiatives, including educational seminars, mentorship programs, career development workshops, and other youth empowerment projects. Their mission is to uplift, inspire, and create lasting opportunities for young people in Umuaka.
