2 min read

The founder and the national co-coordinator Synergy for Peace Initiative (SYPE), an Abuja based nongovernmental organization with special interests in democracy, good governance and justice, Chief Kenneth Amabem, has started a nationwide tour on capacity building and sensitization of Nigerians on the need to support the Igbo presidency project in 2023. Synergy for Peace Initiative which has its trustees drawn from the six geopolitical zones of the country, has already contacted some high profile politicians across the federation in order to actualize this project which has been all promises and failures for the Igbo since 2003 till date.

The Board of Trustees of Synergy for Peace Initiative, from what Umuaka Times gathered, is made up of members  from the six geo political zones of the country. The reason for this in the thinking of the founder of the NGO, Chief Amabem was to create a platform where all the stake holders would speak with one voice.

In his words, Chief Amabem said, “Am the founder and the national coordinator of Synergy for Peace Initiative. The organization was duly registered with Corporate Affairs Commission of Nigeria and we are for equity and justice.”

Chief Amaben who went on to lament that for the past 46 years of his life, he had not witnessed a Nigerian president of Igbo extraction both in military and civilian periods seriously wondered if the civil war was still ongoing or over. He used the opportunity to appeal to well meaning and right thinking Nigerians to drum up support for the Igbo presidency project come 2023 irrespective of political parties.

“Our move is to appeal to Nigerians to re consider our plight and give us a sense of belonging considering our contributions towards the task of nation building across board.”

When the Abuja correspondent of Umuaka Times who spoke with Chief Amabem asked him what would be the consequences, if the people of Nigeria under the APC government eventually fail to give power to the Igbo, he cleared his voice and said. “They have two options secretly before them. 1. Allow Biafra to go. 2. Give power to an Igbo man. They may most likely take the second option which is a lesser “evil” for them.
