2023: “It is either Peter Obi or we are finished.”

2 min read

The call to have a Nigeria president of Southeast origin has continued to gather more momentum from around the world by concerned Igbo sons and daughters both in Nigeria and in Diaspora. US based attorney, top community leader and high profile Akalite, Dr Albert Okunwa is the latest Nigerian who has joined the unending league of political observers in the world calling for Igbo presidency. Dr Okunwa who holds the chieftaincy title of Ugobuzuo 1 of Umuaka, Imo State Nigeria, did not only press for Igbo presidency but he also went further to place the task of rebuilding Nigeria on the shoulders of the former governor of Anambra State, Mr Peter Obi.
Speaking with the Umuaka Times correspondent in America last week when the reporter called on him, Dr Okunwa described Obi as “not only tested and trusted but a man who is in touch with the sad realities of Nigeria.”
Recall that last week, the PDP presidential aspirants of Southeast extraction, held a meeting where they jointly issued a communiqué at the end of the meeting, stating their resolve to present Obi as the Southeast consensus candidate of the party. This move from the PDP presidential aspirants built more confidence in the call for Obi to become the next president of Nigeria among several political observers in the country.
From the points submitted to Umuaka Times by Dr Okunwa, he described Obi as a man of honesty who lives no flamboyant lifestyle despite being a stupendously successful businessman.”Peter Obi is rich, he is a highly principled man of undented integrity, a serious fund manager and a responsive administrator. Above all these fine qualities, Obi is not corrupt. His footprints in Anambra State speak volumes of what he can do to the country in the next four years if given the opportunity.”

Dr Okunwa also appealed to the other 5 geo-political zones of the country to rally round the clamour for Igbo presidency come 2023 because the Igbo had supported each of them ascend the throne in the past.
On the roadmap to rebuild the economy, Umuaka Times asked Okunwa why he had such deep confidence in Obi politically, he looked at the reporter and smiled, adjusted himself on the chair and cleared his throat.”My brother, I hope you still remember that Obi was a member of the Economic Management Team of former President Jonathan? He has a lot of international and personal contacts both from the organized private sector and public institutions. With Obi connecting Dr Ngozi Okonjo Iweala who leads the World Trade Organization and many others, the job is half done.”
In his final note, he used the opportunity and appealed to Ndi Igbo to obtain their PVCs and vote in Obi as the next president of Nigeria.
