Onyoko vs Nwa Efegadi. Who blinks first?
2 min readThere is a popular youthful preacher in Mbaitoli Nwaorieubi area popularly known as Onyoko Meter. The preacher in question is said to be less than 30 years and in Umuaka also, there is a popular youthful preacher known as Nwa Efegadi in Uba Umuaka who is also said to be less than 30 as well. The two preachers have a lot in common going for them. Youthful, rich and admired by many. Both of them possess the prophetic powers to tell the future or explain the past.
Onyoko planned a crusade in Umuaka which was to hold in February for two nights. Promotions and announcements were made in preparation for this unique crusade but few days to the event, all the posters announcing the crusade started to disappear from the streets and strategic places in Umuaka. When the organizers of the program tried to find out what was the problem, they were said to have been informed that church members loyal to Nwa Efegadi were the ones removing the posters. They were told according to what Umuaka Times gathered, that Onyoko had no right to come to Umuaka and carry out a crusade without informing them. This indeed sounded strange to the organizers of the Onyoko crusade.
On the first day of the crusade, some youths blocked the venue of the crusade, insisting that the event would not hold. On further inquiries by the Onyoko boys, they discovered that Nwa Efegadi had fixed another crusade in the same Umuaka and on the same dates in order to reduce the number of those that would attend the Onyoko crusade. The Nwa Efegadi crusade venue was in the popular Isiozi market known as Nkwo Ikpa. Yet, the boys refused to vacate the venue of the Onyoko crusade.
The Onyoko boys then decided to invite the police to settle the matter. At the police station, the Onyoko boys tendered the approval they got from the head mistress of the Central School Umuaka, the venue of the crusade and the authorities from Umuaka Sports Council and the one from the president of the presidents-general forum of Umuaka. They police then discovered that there was no authority from the police to carry out the program. That they quickly obtained and the rift was settled and they were told to go and settle with the boys who have occupied the crusade ground.
Some people who spoke to Umuaka Times said that Nwa Efegadi was never officially informed about the crusade and Onyoko ought to have informed him as his colleague in the vineyard of the Lord and to seek his blessings and support. This assertion was totally rebuffed by the Onyoko boys as immaterial.
As it stands now, the two crusades have come and gone and both Onyoko and Nwa Efegadi have gone back to their tents.
For now, nobody knows when and where next the two powerful seers will meet again. Only time will tell.
