The widows left behind by some members of the 1981 set of Old Boys Association of St Saviour’s College Umuaka were on Sunday January 5, 2025 hosted and empowered by the old boys group of 1981.The group which was led by the Vice President of the organization Mr Emma Dabere Ibeakanma first took part in the church service at St Mary’s Catholic Church before proceeding to the Sancta Maria hall which is also inside the church premises where the empowerment took place.

By the time the church service which was described as both a requiem and thanksgiving Mass came to an end, the widows were called into the Sancta Maria hall by the members of the organization which included Mr Gab Orgazi, Pastor Jude Amaraegbu, Engineer Earnest Akanugo and Chief Lawrence Ezike.

When the widows had gathered, the Vice President Mr Emma Dabere Ibeakanma who is also the chairman of the widows’ palliative committee of 1981 set addressed the widows and explained to them why they were invited. After his address, they were given lunch and eventually requested to submit their banking details for financial empowerment.

At the end of the meeting, some of the widows who spoke to Umuaka Times thanked the group for remembering them in their days of lack and predicament. They eventually prayed to God to continue to guide and protect all the members of the group and their entire families.

Umuaka Times local affairs correspondents who covered the event were at a certain time, called upon by some parishioners who watched the event from afar. On their confirmation of what the event was all, some of them thanked the organization for her kind gesture.
