82 Set of HSU Holds Successful Homecoming Event.

A group of former students of High School Umuaka who graduated in 1982 held her 2025 homecoming event at the country home of one of the members, Chief Charles Ike. The event which drew a large crowd of old students, who came with their families, started arriving at the venue of the event from 1 pm, and by 2pm almost everyone was seated by 2 pm.

As the event progressed, more old boys arrived, and the master of ceremonies, Mr. Chris Iwuji, welcomed them while reminiscing about their school days. This segment of the occasion kept the audience with laughter. The event officially kicked off with an opening prayer, followed by a medical check-up session where nurses examined members’ “vital signs”. This program was powered by a member known as Ebubeagu.
Chief Charles Ike, also known as Udu Akpu Enyi, hosted the event and took the opportunity to educate his former classmates on safety lessons, dubbed “safety formalities”. As the event progressed, the group observed a minute’s silence in memory of departed members, followed by the presentation and serving of kola nuts, and light refreshments.
Engineer Vice Onyemepu, the group’s president, delivered a welcome address that lasted about 7 minutes, touching on various issues. Coincidentally, the homecoming event also marked Chief Charles Ike’s birthday, which was celebrated with cake-cutting, gift presentations, and awards to members.
The event concluded with the distribution of palliatives, including bags of rice, to members. Umuaka Times reporters described the 2025 edition of the homecoming event as a huge success, where former students reunited, shared laughter, and cherished memories with each other.
