Emma Izunwa decries youths’ behaviour in Umuaka.

Umuaka born top community leader, Honourable Emma Izunwa has decried the antisocial behavior and the get-rich-quick-without track record attitude of youths in Umuaka and therefore calls for behavioural change. Izunwa who made this call in one of the whatsapp groups in the community last week, lamented that no Umuaka son or daughter was interested to join the police, army or any other force in the country today as presently constituted.
While reacting to some questions Umuaka Times forwarded to him a couple of days ago, Honourable Izunwa seriously lamented that this attitude if not checked on time would create a bad precedence in the community in time to come.
It is quite true, our children have lost the butterfly in their stomach to do anything these days, talk of joining the Army, Police, Navy or Air Force, the answer is no.
To drive home his point, Izunwa blames the parents of today over their actions and inactions as parents towards their children. “I sincerely blame the parents. Most parents these days have practically lost the wherewithal to be addressed as fathers and mothers.”
A strong allegation leveled against a good number of today’s parents while addressing the issue with Umuaka Times was that, “Our children these days are instructing their parents on what do.” He described today’s parents as onlookers in their own homes because their responsibilities as parents have been taken over by their children.
On the ongoing development in Umuaka, Izunwa wrote; “We are today living in a community that is expanding every day, in terms of trade and development. Ask yourself, how are our children especially the younger ones fitting in?”
A gloomy picture of Umuaka was finally painted by Izunwa in his narrative.
“Our Children are known for running around in this small place with their motorcycles doing practically nothing. Nobody talks about going to school anymore or getting involved learning one handwork or another. If we must change this ugly narrative, parents must be alive with their responsibilities. The rate at which our boys aged 16 to 24 are talking about money these days is SHOCKING. Let us continue to pray for God’s intervention in the lives of our young ones before it gets to crises point”.
