Sir Mathew Oguike takes the final bow at 91.

Uba Umuaka born foremost chieftaincy title holder, a Catholic Knight, educationist and a politician of the old order, Sir Mathew Oguike has passed on. This information was contained in a press statement the UK based first son of the late sage, Dr Uche Oguike sent to Umuaka Times last week.
According to the press statement which was made available to Umuaka Times late last week, Sir Mathew Okoroaku Oguike who holds the chieftaincy title of Ogbuhrozon’Umuaka was until his death, the patriarch of the Oguike dynasty. It is also on record that the late Sir Oguike was a foremost principal and the first Akalite and indeed in the then Mbano of Umuaka, Ekwe, Amandugba and Amurie to study in the United States of America. His sojourn to the United States made great news among his age mates and non-age mates in the entire Mbano communities. He indeed inspired others to follow his footsteps in the acquisition of academic knowledge in the United States.
The burial ceremonies of the late Sir M.O. Oguike have been scheduled to hold on December 19, 2024 in Umuezikoha Uba Umuaka Njaba LGA Imo State. He was aged 91 years. Umuaka Times sympathizes with the entire Oguike large family over the great loss.
