Agunechemba calls for proper zoning in Umuaka Ward 1.

The talks, debates and fireworks that have so far marred the controversial zoning arrangement in Umuaka Ward 1 which is made up of Uba, Achara and Obinwanne autonomous communities may soon come to an end as High Chief Eddy Ikwubuo, the Agunechemba Njaba has made an advocacy for a proper zoning arrangement in the ward. Trouble began a couple of weeks ago when Chief Ikwubuo picked a form from his APC Umuaka Ward 1 and indicated his interest to vie for the councillorship position.
The moment High Chief Ikwubuo picked his form and the news went viral in the ward, hell was somehow let loose as there were calls from several quarters and individuals asking him to withdraw and jettison the ambition. When it was clear to all that the Agunechemba would not step aside from the field, the issue of zoning was then brought to the fold. The APC Ward 1 chairman, Chief Cyril Ukoma and other top personalities from the ward told High Chief Ikwubuo that the election was zoned to Achara community and appealed to him to forget his ambition. Predictably, the High Chief refused to step aside but rather, he gave an in-depth analysis to prove that there was no zoning arrangement in the ward. The analysis from the Agunechemba convinced many and the issue of zoning took the front seat of the political terrain in Ward 1. Several arguments either claiming that there was a zoning arrangement or there was no zoning arrangement took centre stage.
Just last week, High Chief Eddy Ikwubuo called for a proper zoning arrangement in the ward so as to forestall such ugly political development in the future. He promised to champion the cause the moment the local council elections are over.
The high profile politician also frowned that other people from other wards in Umuaka had the guts to come to Umuaka Ward 1 to foment trouble. He warned such individuals to desist from such political invasion of a people.
The advocacy by Ikwubuo has so far gathered support from members of the ward who displayed their displeasure in the ward during the time of the controversies about zoning. For now, if things work out as planned, Umuaka Ward 1 may most likely be the first ward in Njaba LGA to properly arrange and document her zoning formula with a heavy stamp of legality.
Only time will tell.
