The royal father of Obinwanne Umuaka Autonomous Community HRM Eze Justin Uzoma Ezeala on Saturday 4 January 2025 hosted his former secondary school classmates from High School Umuaka who graduated in 1982 to a high profile party which had a non-stop supply of food, drinks and music of the 70s and 80s.

Umuaka Times reporters, the official newspaper of 82 Set of HSU was fully engaged during the party. Around 2 pm, the host presented kola nuts as Igbo customs demand. The kola nuts were blessed and served the old boys. As the kola nuts were being served, special and expensive wines were also being served. The moment that came to an end, the DJ played special numbers from the 70s and 80s. The nostalgic move by the DJ thrilled the old boys to the extent that some of them spread him with cash gifts in appreciation of his skills.

A retired female teacher from High School Umuaka who happened to be available during the event was given a special attention by her former students. This particular teacher was not just an ordinary teacher but a VIP one indeed. Her name is Mrs Margret Ezeala, the mother of Eze Justin Ezeala who was a teacher to the old boys during their secondary school days at HSU. Her son, who is the host of the party was also her student. The old boys organized a special welcome for their former teacher and officially welcomed her to the event. Her presence brought back deep memories for the students who used the opportunity and said ‘thank you ma’ for teaching and educating them properly.

The next item at this juncture was the cutting of the yearly cake by the old boys. This exercise was fully conducted by HRM himself Eze Justin Ezeala. He had already made a donation of N2 million during the event and made sure that others also donated theirs by identifying with the cutting of cake exercise.

Some members of the organization who came for the party became the beneficiaries of the palliatives shared during the party. The palliatives included bags of rice and other ingredients used for cooking rice.

It was indeed an atmosphere of joy and sweet memories as the former students of HSU who graduated in 1982 gathered to celebrate and thank God for all his mercies. The event was the second time the 1982 old boys were gathering to celebrate. The first was on January 3, 2025 during the burial of the late Lolo Nneoma Nwere Ugo Eunice Anugoh whose son, Chief Eddyson Anugoh, a barrister at law is a member of 82 Set of Old Boys Association of High School Umuaka. The year 2025 indeed started well for the old boys, it is their collective prayer that it ends well for them also.
