“July 19, 2025 is our day here in Germany.” MaziGoddyDuru.

Mazi JoeGoddyDuru O., an UbaUmuaka born Akalite who is the president-general of Akah National Cultural Union Germany, last week granted an exclusive interview session with the German correspondents of Umuaka Times. In the interview, MrDuru gave an update concerning the forthcoming launching and inauguration of the association plans to hold on July 19, 2025.

Sir, please may we know your name and the village you came from in Umuaka.

Thank you very much Umuaka Times. My name is Mazi JoeGoddyDuru O. I am from UbaUmuaka.

Tell us a little about the organization you lead.

The Akah National Cultural Union Germany is an association which unites all Akalites in Germany.

When was it formed?

It was formed in 1999 by those who were still in their youthful ages then. The association later crashed and in 2018, the group came up again. By that time most of us had developed mentally and married with children.

Why was the organization set up again?

We saw the need to come together and form a central union in helping our new families in any way we could. We also got ourselves together so that our children would know their brothers and sisters and our wives would know each other as well. In fact, we share problems, solutions and successes together.

How often do you meet?

We meet once in three months via virtual devices and we also do video calls.

Has the organization made any remarkable achievement since 2018?

Yes. Quite a lot. Despite our oneness, we have achieved a lot. After our general election in 2020, we were able to register the organization with the German government and we are happy about that.

What about challenges, can you tell us some of the challenges facing the organization?

On challenges we have many of our brothers who are not with us yet. May be some of them are waiting to see the organization hit success before they will register with us.

So what is your appeal to such persons?

I appeal to their families at home to tell their children here to join us and lets move ahead. Those who have refused to join are depriving us a lot via their inputs. Remember, east and west, home is the best.

Concerning the big event coming, tell us a little about it.

On the event, it is an inauguration and an empowerment program for youths, men and women who lack capital to start up something at home. We want to assist them in the best way we can.

Who will be the beneficiaries of the empowerment program?

The 10 communities in Umuaka will benefit when the time comes. After the event on JULY 19, we will go into the modalities for selecting the beneficiaries.

That’s good but do you want to do this as a giveaway or a seed?

Thanks for this special question. It is what we will do as a seed and the only payback we want from them is that the beneficiaries will make proper use of the funds and train others as well.

Will you just give them the money and walk away or monitor them?

We will monitor them and watch them grow.

Umuaka Times gathered that your organization paid a certain music maker to write a good supportive song for the big event. Can you confirm?

Yes indeed. On the event, we have hired SonexOguike to release a song for us and all the proceeds from the song will eventually be channeled into this same program of empowerment. We also have a brochure which we will use to raise funds for the same purpose.

Give us a glimpse of what to expect on that day especially the personalities that will grace the event.

On the dignitaries invited, the chairman of the event is a well-known figure. He is a big friend of Akalites both home and abroad. His name is Chief and Lolo AlphonsusChukwudoluo the OkpataOzuoOha 1 of Ogberuru Ancient Kingdom What of the chief launcher?

The chief launcher is from Mbano and he is another “nwannedinamba” in the person of High Chief Frank Anyaghara, OgananyaAkayadiocha 1 of Mbano Ancient Kingdom. He is a powerful philanthropist and a businessman based here in Germany. Do you want me to name other special guests as well?

Is there no woman among them?

There is please. Among them is Triple High Chief Joy Nwadike a.k.a. Eziada Attorney General. Nwadike is a woman of substance with so many titles such as Dr., lolo and the Onosolueze 1 of Amandugba Ancient Kingdom.

High Chief Augustine Ibeneme, the Omereoha 1, businessman and philanthropist who also hails from Ogboeruru town. We have High Chief S.C. Nwankwo, the Gburugburu 1 who hails from Ebonyi State. Gburugburu is a high profile businessman and consultant who has a personality that is impossible to ignore.

Sir, in this type of event, I am sure there will be some side attractions: Tell us a little about such attractions lined up to thrill the guests on that day.

On side attraction, Umuaka women have been rehashing on the best cultural display they will showcase on the highly eventful day. There are also other shows we have on that day. Just keep a date with us.
