The success of Oghu Umuaka Lagos 2025.

The 2025 edition of Oghu Umuaka Lagos organized by Akalites resident in Lagos has come and gone. The event which attracted a large number of Akalites living in and outside Lagos was held on Sunday August 17, 2025 in Festac Town Lagos.

By the time Umuaka Times reporters arrived at the event, many guests and Akalites were all seated in their designated and respective canopies according to their village names. In no small time, “umuokorosha” (special oghu dancers) started to welcome the special guests to the high table where they were made to sit. Several VIPs who graced the occasion included, Chief Bob Dike, Chief Okey Nwanyanwu, Chief Chidi Appear, Prince Ator Meremikwu, Chief Arthur Obieze and a host of others too numerous to mention.

Perhaps one of the greatest scenes of the event was when HRM Eze I.O.U. Ikejiofor, the Igwe GbajiriEgbe IV of Amandugba Ancient Kingdom of Isu LGA Imo State arrived at the event. The presence of the royal father added royal colour to the event as the onyeeze stayed till the end of the event.

When all the guests had seated, MrGoddyIwuoha, the chairman of the event took time to greet all the invitees and presented an opening speech. The event was officially declared open the moment he was through with his speech.  The dancers were then called upon to start thrilling the audience with their skilled dancing oghu steps. The guests at the high table also made donations one after the other in order to support the event for the next year which will be 2026.

Speaking with the Umuaka Times reporters at the close of the event, Mr Chidi Iwuoha who was the chairman of the oghu committee thanked all those who graced the event and asked them to pray for long life, good health and prosperity for them to witness the next Oghu Umuaka Lagos come 2026.
