Human rights lawyer, professor and pro-democracy activist, Chidi Odinkalu has attributed criminal responsibility to Igbo politicians over the widespread insecurity across Igboland. Odinkalu who made this direct accusation to Igbo politicians exonerated the Nnamdi Kalu led IPOB as being responsible for the terrorism in Igboland.

This shocking disclosure was made public when the erudite professor appeared as a guest at during a TV program at Channels on Thursday, October 23, 2025. The program is tagged Politics Today.
The professor who was a former chairman of National Human Rights Commission argued that the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra, IPOB has nothing to do with the insecurity but further admitted that the entire crises in the Southeast should not be blamed on IPOB totally.
Hear him “Let me tell you this, the biggest single issue, in security terms, confronting the South-East, in my estimation, based on the work I have done on this, is, I regret to disappoint you, not IPOB, it is one word: cults, financed by politicians.”
The professor continued, “All right? Now, the cults are the biggest single issue, and you don’t have a clue how terrible the problem of cults in the South-East is at this particular time.”
Efforts by Umuaka Times to reach to Professor Odinkalu proved abortive as at press time last week. Imo State alongside with other southeastern states in Nigeria has been witnessing worsening insecurity where the lives of many especially youths have so far been ended by suspected terrorists.
