The events that marked the final farewell to the late Pa Linus Enweregeme Anuebu’s demise came in different ways; events were held in South Africa, Nigeria and other parts of the world where his children and family members live. Down in Nigeria, precisely in Umuakpuru Amiyi Akah Autonomous Community Njaba LGA Imo State, activities of diverse dimensions shaped the burial of Pa Linus Anuebu. First, on the night of January 9, 2026, friends and well-wishers as well as top community members gathered in the family compound of the deceased in awake keep to observe a night of service of songs and celebrations. During the night, the youths of the community, community based groups and many others including a live band, put up several performances to entertain themselves.

In the morning being January 10 2026, family members embarked on a trip to bring home the remains of Pa Anuebu in a motorcade. The motorcade arrived Umuaka around 9 am and headed straight to Achara community which is the maternal home of the deceased to observe a stopover. The purpose of the stopover was to pay homage to his maternal uncles, brothers and sisters. This ritual did not last long as the motorcade left almost immediately for the ancestral home of the deceased for the commencement of lying in state and viewing of the corpse by mourners.

Around 11 am, the motorcade was set for the requiem Mass which was held at Emmanuel’s Anglican Church in Amiyi. Family, friends and other guests joined the motorcade to the church where the Anglican Bishop of Orlu Diocese celebrated the Mass. At the end of the Mass, both the Bishop and the priests went straight to the home of the deceased for interment.
The body of Pa Linus Enweregeme Anuebu was lowered into the grave by 12:34 pm by his first son Ikenna after all the graveside prayers were said for the repose of his soul.
On the entertainment of guests, the family of the deceased ensured that their guests never lacked what to eat and drink during the burial ceremony. Several groups including those from South Africa, Amiyi Akah, former students groups and more were adequately represented.
Women dance groups and many church organizations who attended the ceremony indeed thrilled the people by their different performances. What a great way to say good bye to an icon.
