Sydney Okpoko ordained a Catholic knight in SA.
1 min readA couple of days ago, Akalites, the Igbo community and many other Nigerians based in South Africa gathered to give honour to whom honour is due in the Catholic Church. The purpose of meeting was to witness the ordination and confirmation of South African based Akalite, businessman, top community leader and the president of Umuaka Union in the country, Sir Sidney Ik Okpoko to the Knighthood of Roman Catholic Church.
According to the reports filed by the Umuaka Times correspondent in South Africa, Sir Okpoko was ordained a Knight of Dagama KDG on Wednesday 9th of June 2021 at the famous Maryvale Catholic Church Orange Grove in Johannesburg South Africa.
The ordination Umuaka Times gathered, was performed by Rev Father Miron who represented Archbishop Buti Tlhagle in the Archdiocese of Johannesburg. Umuaka Times also gathered that there were other members of the church who were ordained on the eventful day but Sir, Sidney Ik Okpoko was the only Akalite among them.
The Order of Knight of Da Gama is a South African brotherhood of Catholic men with the aim and passion to encourage the spread of the gospel of kingdom of Christ by deeply being involved in the knighthood.
