2 min readFriday 12 April 2024, Akalites in the United and the parent body of Orlu citizens in America known as Orlu Regional Assembly ORAUSA held a wake keep, service of songs and requiem Mass for one of their members Chief Prince Jude Chidi Anyaibe who died in January this year.
When several members of the two associations had gathered at St Mathias Catholic Church 9475 Annapolis Road Lanham in Maryland which is the venue of the requiem Mass, the service began by exactly 4:30 pm and ended in the next one hour after the officiating priest, Rev Father Peter Iwuala who is also from Umuaka had taken the congregation into sober reflections about life, death and eternity. The priest took time to console the immediate family members of the deceased and appealed to the congregation to always draw close to God.
By the culture of the Catholic Church in America, the casket was brought to church and kept open for people to pay their last respect. This ritualistic exercise lasted for some time before it was closed and other segments of the wake keep followed.
Chief Anyaibe whose sad event took place on January 7, 2024 was the second son and fourth child of late Sir Nnaoma Emmanuel and Lolo Lady Ezinne Margaret Anyaibe of Umuawaha Umuezikoha Uba Umuaka Njaba LGA Imo State. Prince as he was fondly called by friends and family members obtained a Master’s in Business Administration at the University of the District of Columbia, Washington, DC and he lived in Maryland USA.
