For the third time in three consecutive years, the now highly famous Akushinanna and Ahudiye Foundation that was established few years ago by a US based Akalite, humanist and friend of the poor, Chief Keonye Ahamefule, the Akushinanna 1 of Akah and his beautiful wife, Lolo Oby Ahamefule (Ahudiye) has been attending to the needs of Ugbele women during Christmas celebrations.

The event which is held every December 28, in the country home of Chief and Lolo Keonye Ahamefule code named Southern Belt Settlement (SBS), brings Umulolo and other Ugbele-Akah women together.
This time, Umuaka Times gathered through the coordinator of the program, Mr Kelechi Ahamefule, that the 2023 edition of the yearly empowerment program was a big shift from what it used to be. In the last two years, the focus area of the program had always been Umulolo and Umudiudara women in Ugbele Akah but the 2023 edition, covered the entire Ugbele Akah community.

Ugbele Akah has a total of 27 villages, three less privileged women were drawn from each village. An exercise that was coordinated by the president general (PG) of Ugbele Akah Autonomous Community, Hon Remmy Amuzie.

Another interesting feature of the program for the year 2023 that added colour to the day was that the Chief sponsor of the foundation, Chief Keonye Ahamefule was around with his family, to witness the program for the first time since he began it in the last three years.

Umuaka Times observed that the empowerment program covered the entire Ugbele Akah where each village head in the 27 villages in Ugbele Akah was requested to present three persons who needed financial assistance. A total number of 81 women were empowered with financial assistance. Each woman received the sum of N20,000.
