The remains of the late ace DJ, Igbo language football commentator and MC, Mr Albert Duru popularly known as Alibros were laid to rest last week on Thursday 18 December 2025. The sad event took place in his Umuisii Umuezeala Uba Umuaka community of Njaba LGA Imo State. On the morning of the busy, the Umuezeala youths and many others including friends and well-wishers had gathered at the family compound of the deceased and finally proceeded to the mortuary of Umuaka Community Hospital to accompany home the remains of the man of peace, justice and comedy.

After settling with the mortuary officials, in less than 30 minutes, the youths and others who formed the motorcade were on their way to the Umuezeala Uba Umuaka home of the fallen social man.
When they arrived at the family house, uncontrollable tears rented the air simultaneously with the siren from the ambulance that brought home the corpse. It was not easy to control or console the people wailing. Immediately and without any form of delay, the body was carried to the lying in state room where his wife, Mrs Rose Duru, his children, brothers, sisters and other family members had the opportunity to pay him their last respect. At the end of the lying in state, everyone proceeded to St Mary’s Catholic Church where a requiem Mass was celebrated for the repose of the soul of the deceased. The priest who celebrated the Mass extoled the virtues of the late icon and used the opportunity and asked the congregation to be prepared for death always.
After about two hours, everyone was back home again in the compound of the deceased for interment. The Catholic priest who officiated the requiem Mass at St Mary’s Church was the same man who led the graveside prayers before the late man of the people Alibros was laid to rest.

During his lifetime, Alibros was a man known for several things; he was good at organizing things, promoting culture and tradition and dispute resolutions. A man who held a brief interview with Umuaka Sports Council described the death of Mazi Albert Duru as a big blow to the council and the development of Igbo football commentary in Umuaka.
