Amandugba records massive crowd at Igu Afor Eze Ofala 2024.
2 min readThe best way to describe the event for the understanding of many is to call it the gathering of who is who in Amandugba! The date as usual was December 29 and the venue was at the palace of HRM Eze I.O.U. Ikejiofor, the Igwe Gbajiri Egbe IV of Amandugba Ancient Kingdom of Isu LGA Imo State. The event was the bi-annual festival of the Amandugba community christened “Igu Afor Eze Ofala” 2024 edition.
On the day of the festival, event planners and decorators arrived early enough to beautify the venue of the event which is the palace of the monarch officially known as Ishi Obi Ukwu Ndugba.
Activities for the day kicked off with a high Mass celebrated at St. Damian’s Catholic Church Amandugba which started by 10 and ended by 12 midday. After the church service, people went home and prepared for the big show and around 1 pm, a good number of guests had arrived at the Ishi Obi Ukwu, venue of the event. The master of the ceremony went on and acknowledged the presence of high profiles indigenes of the community and after that, HRM Eze I.O.U. Ikejiofor, the Igwe Gbajiri Egbe IV was ushered into the palace. All the guests stood up as a mark of respect according to Igbo tradition.
In few seconds time the royal father sat down on his royal stool. The presentation of kola nuts was the next item. The opening prayers were also taken with the blessing of the kola nuts. After this segment, there were also several displays of cultural dances by many groups especially women’s groups.
By sharp 2, the MC announced that it was time to confer chieftaincy titles to some individuals of note whose contributions to the community can never be ignored.
Among the notable personalities who received honours during the event was Chief Chris Nwachukwu (Kriwowo) who was bestowed with the title of Omereoha 1 of Amandugba.
Several top personalities also made some financial contributions during the event.
By the end of the event, Umuaka Times gathered that the contributions of HRH, Eze I.O.U Ikejiofor, Mr Brendan Chinaemerem Nwanesi, the president general of Afu and double Chief E. Iwuji, the Uduakommiri1 of Amandugba and the chairman of the organizing committee went a long way to ensuring the success of the historic event.
In conclusion, Umuaka Times confirms that the “Igu Afor Eze Ofala” 2024 edition was a huge success which showed the rich culture of Amandugba Ancient Kingdom.
