Ambassador Donald Anokwute loses mother. Burial date fixed.

The mother of South African based businessman of Umuaka origin, Ambassador Donald Anokwute has been lifted up to heaven to be with the lord her creator. This information was contained in a press release made available to Umuaka Times by Ambassador Donald Anokwute.  According to the press statement which was signed by Mr Victor EmekaAnokwute on behalf of the entire Anokwute family, the late Mrs Lucy Akubanihe Anokwute (nee Nnorom) who was addressed as Woman of Substance by close associates hails from the linage of Anokwute of Okparaku N’Okparaji family of Umuduruorji Acharaji Akah in Umuaka Njaba LGA Imo State.

The burial date and other rites of passage of the septuagenarian Christian mother who passed on to glory at the age of 74 have also been released by the family in the following order.

On Thursday November 27, 2025, by 6pm, a Christian wakes night and service of songs will take place at her husband’s family compound in Umuduruorji Acharaji Akah. Kick-off time is by 8pm. On Friday being November 28,2025, the remains of the late Woman of Substance will leave the mortuary of Umuaka Community Hospital in a motorcade for lying in state at the same venue (being her husband’s place). By 10 am, a funeral Mass will be celebrated in her honour and for the repose of her soul at St Paul’s Anglican Church Acharaji Akah.The Mass service which is billed to last about two hours will come to an end by 12 midday when internment will follow at her husband’s place immediately after the funeral Mass.

Local affairs correspondents of Umuaka Times gathered that on Sunday being 30 November 2025, a thanksgiving Mass will be held at St Paul’s Anglican Church thereby marking the end of the rites of passage for the amiable Woman of Substance who devoted her lifetime to the service of the Lord. The late Mrs Lucy Akubanihe Anokwute who was born in 1951 and she spent 74 eventful years on earth where she and her husband raised six children; five boys and one girl.

Survived to mourn her areher numerous brothers, sisters, uncles and more especially her children Mr Emeka Victor Anokwute, who is based in Nigeria. Prince Anthony Anokwute based in Israel. Mr Mezie Anokwute, a Warri Delta State based and Madam Promise Iheoma Mbikpo, Lagos based.

Others include Mr. Tobenna Anokwute a businessman based in Nigeria and lastly South African based Ambassador Donald Anokwute. Ambassador Anokwute is a staunch member of many organizations including the Supreme Eze in Council South Africa, Akah Aborigines South Africa where he served as her former chairman and the International Organization of United Volunteers (IOUNV) Worldwide. Ambassador Anokwute is the current International Vice President of this prestigious organization.

Umuaka Times reliably gathered that the late Mrs Lucy Akubanihe Anokwute also had some stepchildren who are 8 in number. They include Mr. Uzoms Anokwute (the popular Umuaka footballer and Enugu Rangers former player and Uloma Joy Anokwute. There are also Miss Chinaemezu Precious Anokwute (former Miss Umuaka) and the head of grandchildren.  Other grandchildren include Oby, Chioma, Happiness, Ogadimma, Oluchi and 30 grandchildren.

During the burial ceremonies, many local and international organizations are expected to honour the late Woman of Substance in diverse ways as Umuaka Times confirmed that Ambassador Donald Anokwute belongs to many organizations both in and outside the country.

Umuaka Times newspapers has gathered that the local organizing committee for the burial has been working day and night in order to make sure that every aspect of the burial of the late Mrs Lucy Akubanihe Anokwute (nee Nnorom) is done to the glory of God.
