Another professional footballer discovered in Umuaka.

It appears Umuaka may soon transform to the biggest producer of professional footballers in the whole of South East Nigeria. Bright Dike, Emmanuel Emenike, Onyekachi Durugbor, Daryl Dike are all highly rated footballers who have made name in the field of professional soccer and they are all high profile Akalites. Last week, Umuaka Times discovered yet another professional footballer from Umuaka by name Chima Akas. The 26 year old footballer who hails from Uba Umuaka was born in Ibadan Oyo State where he nurtured his love for football.
Standing at 88m (6 ft 2 inches), Akas is currently playing for Belenenses SAD FC of Portugal. Before his sojourn to Portugal, he has played in some local teams like, Active Academy FC Ibadan. Umuaka Times gathered that from 2010–2013, Akas played for Shooting Stars, 2014–2015, he played for Sharks while from 2016–2017, he came home to Igboland and played for Enyimba FC of Aba. From 2018–2019, he played for Kalmar FC before joining the Portuguese team, Belenenses SAD in 2019.
As a complete football legend, Akas has also played for the Nigeria’s national team, U17. Nigeria U20 in 2015, Nigeria U23 and the Super Eagles in 2015.
