Another UK lockdown keeps Akalites stranded overseas.
1 min readA fresh round of lockdown declared by the British Government during this yuletide period has completely knocked out many Akalites and others who live in UK or have some things to do in the UK before travelling down to Nigeria for the Xmas celebration. Prime Minister Boris Johnson few days ago, announced the second national lockdown in Britain to curtail the spread of Covid19.
Many Akalites who live in Britain were caught unawares by this announcement due to its suddenness. An Akalite who was to leave England the day after the lockdown was announced, told Umuaka Times that his plans have been totally shattered by this ugly announcement. According to him, he hoped to dedicate his new house to God by January 2021 as all arrangements have been put in place.
Some families in Umuaka who have relations in the UK have so far expressed deep concerns over the lockdown. Many who were expecting their loved ones home from the Queen’s country are now helplessly watching the events. There were indications late last week that other countries, especially United States may follow on the “trending” lockdown.
According to Prime Minister Johnson, the lockdown will last for four weeks where pubs, restaurants, gyms and non-essential shops will remain closed throughout the period of the 4 weeks.
