Another Umuaka female lawyer called to bar.

The number of Umuaka women that has taken to the noble legal profession has continued to be on the rise after the call to bar of 6 Umuaka women some few months ago. It can be recalled that6 female and one male law students from Umuaka were called to the Nigerian Bar after completing their legal trainings at various universities around the world some few months back.

Last week, the wife of Professor Kingsley Obioha who hails from Uba was called to the Nigerian Bar thereby bringing the number of Umuaka women called to the bar in Nigeria since this year to 7.

Umuaka Times reporters had a brief interview with Mrs Obioha Jane Onyinyechi. The new wig who holds a doctorate degree disclosed the mental torture and academic struggles she went through before becoming a lawyer.

Excerpts:

Good morning madam.

Welcome and good morning to you also.

Please tell us your name and the village you came from in Umuaka.

I am Dr. Mrs Obioha Jane Onyinyechi. I am a barrister at law and the wife of Professor Kingsley Obioha who hails from Ube Umuaka.

Lets take a look at your academic sojourns.

(Smiles). I attended so many institutions and have got the following qualifications: NDCS, BA, MA, PDE, MEd, LL.B, BL. LL.M Tutee, MICMC, FICMC, FICPAN, PhD.

Oh my God! Why bother yourself to read law after obtaining all these trailer load of academic laurels?

I had wished to study law a long time ago, which was why after getting to the  top of my career, I still went to study law.

Congratulations for this feat and thanks for being an inspiration to others. Would you want to practice?

Yes! I would like to practice law.

How was the journey like?

It wasn’t an easy journey, especially with children, husband and other activities. It’s tough but possible.

Tell us when you were called to bar.

I was called to Bar on Wednesday 24th of September, 2025.

Ok what do you have to say to other younger girls in Umuaka who want to read law?

My advice to young girls from Umuaka who want to study law is to be determined and focused.

So far who do you give your appreciation messages to?

My appreciation goes to my husband, Professor Obioha K.C. Episteme who is a High Chief, medical practitioner and more. He is the brain behind all these achievements and careers.
