Owerri based lawyer and human rights activist, Barrister Ifeoma Ihesie has described the All Progressives Congress APC, as the worst government ever known to the Nigerian people. Ihesie who disclosed this to Umuaka Times in a recent interview with Umuaka Times also told the newspaper that she does not belong to any political party except any party that is “of good conscience to determined to dispense equity and justice.”

The Umuaka born lawyer who is also a community integration advocate seriously emphasized on the urgent need for political parties to value human beings and their human rights.  Barrister ihesie painted a vivid picture of the political party she loves. In her own words, “I belong to a party that values the fact that education is success and promotes its accomplishments. I belong to a party that believes that youths are the leaders of tomorrow and practices it. I belong to a party which its aim is to rebuild Nigeria in all ramifications particularly  its security and economic restructuring. I belong to a party that will ensure adequate employment for the citizens and make Nigeria a conducive environment for all and sundry. I belong to a party that will provide Nigerians with uninterrupted power supply and other social amenities.”

On the tragedy of the Nigerian political class, Ihesie lamented that Nigeria is endowed with all kinds of mineral resources by God Almighty “yet we live like we have none because of bad leaders. This is the time to change the narrative.”

Emphasizing on the failures demostrated by the APC and the PDP, Ihesie told Umuaka Times that the two parties are just parties formed by individuals, “they do not run themselves, I have no problem with the parties, I only have problems with the people running the parties.”

In her assessment of the political class in Nigeria, the rights activist noted. “It’s worthy of note that the problem of Nigeria is not the political parties but the leaders in the parties. Assuming that Peter Obi is running under the umbrella of PDP, people will still support him the same way they are doing today. It’s not all about the party but the candidate.”

In her conclusion, Ihesie finally lamented that “APC has produced the worst government in the history of Nigeria, its current presidential candidate does not seem to be better than the present leader. PDP government was better than APC government in all ramifications in all comparison. The current PDP presidential candidate does not seem to be better than the current president from his past record.”

The emergence of APC and PDP presidential candidates was described by Ihesie as a mere political safari and she went further to warn that voting for them would spell a suicide mission to Nigerians. “How can I encourage anyone to embark on a suicide mission. Voting is a thing of choice though but people should follow their conscience and vote wisely. My advice to Nigerians is that they should vote according to the candidate’s manifestos and past records of each candidate.”

On the presidential candidate of Labour Party, Peter Obi, Ihesie disclosed to Umuaka Times that she has taken the pain to folllow the political moves of Obi through his speeches and records of achievements while in office. “He has clean records as the former Governor of Anambra State. Peter Obi knows the problem of Nigeria, he has outlined and expatiated them in details. He possesses integrity and upright living characteristics. I urge all Nigerians to vote for him, I believe that God Almighty has answered Nigerians’ prayers hence the emergency of Peter Obi and his Vice presidential candidate. Nigerians need vibrate young men as president and vice to engineer the affairs of Nigeria and Peter Obi and his Vice fit into the picture.”
