2 min readThe burial of late Lolo Roseline Ego-Oyibo Ikwubuo, the mother of the Imo State born maverick politician and controversial High Chief, Dr Eddy Ikwubuo was successfully held yesterday at the premises of Father Eburuaja Stadium Umuezeala Uba. About two days before the burial which was held on Friday 26 February 2021, something spectacular happened in the community. A never before seen 20 footer white limousine just arrived Umuaka town and stopped at the Ime Afor modern market. Youths, market women and okada riders, all came to take aglance at the vehicle. Minutes later, the driver of the limo took off to the compound of Chief Ikwubuo in Umuezeala Uba in preparation for the burial.
The vehicle parked at the frontage of Ikwubuo country home until yesterday being 25 February when the limo in a convoy of other vehicles made straight to the St Mary’s Catholic Church Umuaka for the Requiem Mass of Lolo Roseline Ego-Oyibo Ikwubuo.
The priest who conducted the service during his sermon, talked about live, death and heaven and hell. He enjoined Christians to always emulate the ways of Jesus Christ in order to end the sufferings on the world today.
Chief Eddy Ikwubuo, the Agunechemba 1 of Njaba who arrived the church service late due to some issues he was addressing in view of the successful conduct of the burial ceremony, was invited by the priest to make a vote of thanks shortly after his arrival.
The High Chief greeted everybody present in the church and thanked them for creating the time to mourn with the bereaved Ikwubuo family. He went further to describe his late mother as the most peaceful woman he had ever met in his entire life. in his own words, “Dad was a very difficult man to live with but mum lived with him very peacefully until the time death put them apart.”
After his moving speech, he made a donation of N100,000 to support the ongoing projects at the church building. The priest in his response thanked him and ended the Requiem Mass.
The guests then went to the ancestral home of the late Lolo Ikwubuo which is the Anyaibe family home in Uba Umuaka. After a brief stay at the home, the motorcade then went straight to the venue of the reception.
