Last week, 7 young lawyers from Umuaka were called to bar after completing their law degree programs at various universities in Nigeria. Each of the young lawyers spoke exclusively with Umuaka Times.

Excerpts:

My name is Justin ChukwudiEzeala. I am from Obinwanne town.

I studied law at University of Kent in the Unitewd Kingdom. I did my Master’s at the University of Law Birmingham, UK.

The opportunity to help people with their problems and also coming from a long line of lawyers, as my grandfather, granduncle, father, and uncle are all lawyers.

I’d like to practice in the corporate space.

Becoming a lawyer was a long journey, with many obstacles but through prayers and the amazing support around me, I was able to fulfill this goal of mine.

I got called to bar on the 10th of July 2025 here in Abuja.

My advice will be that to help with the stress of law school, it’s wise to be methodical and disciplined in your approach. Try and read every day, even if it’s for an hour or two. The effect of doing so will compound over time. Also surround yourself with people pursuing the same goal as you. You guys will help each other immensely.

On my vote of thanks, first to God Almighty, my family and my friends. I deeply appreciate the support, encouragement and kind words given to me throughout this journey. This is not just a win for me but for us all. May we continue to prosper together.
