Bishop Ukwuoma begins scholarship program at St Saviour’s College.
2 min readThe Catholic Bishop of Orlu Diocese, Rev Augustine Ukwuoma has announced a yearly scholarship program at the newly commissioned St Saviour’s College Amiyi- Akah Autonomous Community Njaba LGA. The Catholic pontiff made the announcement during the commissioning and dedication of the school project held on Sunday December 18, 2022 at the school compound.
It can be recalled that the government of Imo State renamed the original venue of St Saviour’s College after a Federal school of science and the school, under the supervision of Catholic Church, moved to Amiyi-Akah community. The school which was also named High School Umuaka under the Government of Imo State moved to Uba Umuaka community.
Bishop Ukwuoma who was deeply impressed about the state of the school and the students announced the scholarship in order to encourage the students of the great institution to be academically productive.
In his own words, Bishop Ukwuoma said, “this scholarship program will be competitive and I want the best 5 students every year.” The bishop reminded the school management to take proper note of how he wants the scholarship to be and therefore tasked them to make sure that the scholarship is always awarded to the best students of the school. On hearing the announcement, the students jumped up in joy and thanked the bishop for his kind gesture.
After the announcement was made by the Bishop, the Amiyi community presented some Christmas gifts to him. He accepted them, blessed them and thanked the community. The bishop also gave out some of the gifts to the royal father of the community HRH Eze Francis Ahanotu.
