The Roman Catholic congregation of Obinwanne Umuaka Autonomous Community of Njaba LGA Imo State Nigeria last week recorded another milestone of its unending list of achievements. Precisely on Thursday 16 April 2022, the Catholic Bishop of Orlu Diocese Rev Dr Augustine Ukwuoma pronounced St Patrick Catholic Station of Obinwanne Umuaka a parish. The church is now known and officially addressed as St Patrick’s Parish Obinwanne Umuaka.
Umuaka Times gathered that the process of elevating a station a parish standard comes stage by stage. According to the source that briefed Umuaka Times on the development, the work has been ongoing before it got to the stage which can be called the final stage. “What the bishop did is to just name the station a parish for the people to know the change of status. The final stage will be during the inauguration of the church when the bishop will name the first parish priest that will be posted to the Obinwanne Parish.”
Meanwhile congratulatory messages have continued to trail the announcement that St Patrick’s station has been named a parish. From the time the breaking news hit Umuaka Times Institute, several Akalites of diverse backgrounds started to send in their congratulations to Obinwanne people.

The elevation of St Patrick Obinwanne to the status of a parish coincided with the birthday celebration of the royal father of Obinwanne Autonomous Community, HRM Eze Justin Uzoma Ezeala. These two incidents marked double blessing for the Obinwanne community and their friends.
