Breaking: End SARS protest erupts in Umuaka.

Today being Monday October 12, 2020, serious protests erupted in Umuaka town by the “motorcycle boys” who joined the nationwide campaign to compel the Federal Government of Nigeria to end the deadly Federal Special Anti Robbery Squad otherwise known as FSARS. The Umuaka Times reporter who visited the Afor Umuaka Roundabout at the heat of the protests observed the “motorcycle boys” numbering about 100 or more, as they were carrying their placards and chanting “End SARS, End SARS.”
In about 20 minutes of protests and acrobatic display of their motorcycle driving skills at the roundabout, the boys zoomed off straight to the Njaba Police Station to stage another protests. When they got to the front gate of the police station with their motorcycles, the policemen on duty, after noticing their big numbers closed the entrance gate to the station in order to prevent the protesting boys from gaining access to the station.
Although there were some conflicting speeches by some of the boys who spoke to Umuaka Times about the reason for the protest. Some of the boys were saying that, ”yahoo yahoo” business is not stealing and the police have no right to stop them while others were complaining that the police, especially SARS, have criminalized the good sense of dressing and the ownership of expensive telephone handsets by the youths in their criminal drie to extort money from them.
A hip-hop artiste Junebu Stephen Uchenna known as Bravo Dee told Umuaka Times that he was the one that organized the peaceful protests. According to the 23 year old student and song writer, “We know very well that the government has ended SARS yesterday but all we wanted was to make sure that they do not package the criminal outfit in another name and start killing us again.”
While seriously condemning the activities of SAR and commending Umuaka Times for covering the protest, Bravo Dee explained thus: “As students, we can’t dress well again, we can’t wear beautiful hairstyles again as youths. The worst is that when you dress well and these criminals see you, they will arrest you, accuse you of being a yahoo boy, take your ATM card, and force you to the bank and on getting to any ATM machine, they force you to give them your PIN and they will withdraw all the money in your account. What rhen do you call armed robbery?”
Some onlookers who observed the protests were totally in support of the protesters as they were seen by the Umuaka Times reporter singing some solidarity songs with the protesters and throwing some sachets of cold water for them to drink for a job well done..
