Breaking news: Oghu South Africa holds on Nov 5.

The famous Akah Aborigines Association, the umbrella group that unites all Akalites living in South Africa and southern African countries has announced its epoch making oghu 2023 event and celebration. The 2023 South African oghu dance is a yearly event Akalites based in South Africa usually hold to strengthen the ties of relationships and togetherness among the sons and daughters of the community in South Africa and Sothern African countries.

From the press statement issued by the chairman of the organization, Chief Emmanuel Kelechi Akuwara which he made available to the South African correspondent of Umuaka Times, the event comes up on Sunday November 5 2023. The venue chosen by the organization for the international event is Braamfontein Recreation Centre Parktonia Extension in Johannesburg South Africa.

Umuaka Times gathered also that the chairman of the association Chief Kelechi Akuwara who is a titled Akalite with the name Eze Chi Na AwaraAku 1 of Umuaka will be the chairman of the event while Chief Emaka Okorom, the Ikemba 1 of Ugbele Akah is the sponsor of the 2023 oghu celebration in South Africa. Ogene Sheriff Dennis Obiagwuis the Eze IsiOghu. Mr Kingsley Iwuanoruo popularly addressed as Man of God will be the sponsor of the oghu dancing competition for the men’s category during the event. The sponsor of children’s dancing competition is Hon Uzoma Onuoha while Hon Kennedy Obinna Nwaozuzu, the secretary-general of the 2023 oghu planning committee will oversee several activities during the event.

Others who contributed in several ways to make the event a huge success are Hon. UcheIwums, the Vice Chairmanof Akah Aborigines Association, Isi OghuIsiozi, Nze Modestus Njoku- Isi Oghu Uba, Hon Okechukwu Okezie Isi Oghu Achara, Hon Emeka Ojiego Isi Oghu Amaiyiand Chief Emeka Okorom- Isi OghuUgbuele. Others are Hon Kelechi Asiegbu Isi OghuIbele, Chief OkeyOnwunaru – Isi OghuUmuele, Hon Anyaehie Green- Isi OghuAmakor and Hon.Cajethan Nwohajioku as well as Hon Alex Duru- Isi Oghu-obinwanne.

In a brief interview with the president of the organization, he disclosed to Umuaka Times that the reason for the event is to promote the Igbo culture overseas and strengthen the seed of brotherhood among Akalites living in South Africa. Several communities that dance oghu festival in Imo State have been sent invitations by the Akah Aborigines Association to attend the event.

Some Akalites who live across many parts of the world have also indicated their interest to attend the event. Umuaka Times has been named the official newspaper of the great oghu celebration by the Akah Aborigines Association South Africa 2023.
