US based Akalite and retired civil servant Mr. Chris Opara has urged Akalites both home and abroad to endeavour to bring home their investments with the aim of developing and building the Umuaka Dream. Mr Opara drew this assertion in a recent interview with Umuaka Times correspondent in America while giving out some tips on how Umuaka can face the next 10 years with a solid development initiative.
From what Umuaka Times gathered, Mr Opara is a man who practices what he preaches because by last year 2023, he, alongside with some family members, built the now famous C.C. COIN Plaza in Umuezikoha Uba Umuaka along Umuaka Amaigbo Road. The plaza has to a very large extent brought development and commercial face-lift to the area it is built.
While making the call to Akalites for the institutionalization and localization of their businesses in foreign lands, Mr Opara also used the opportunity and thanked all those who have so far brought home their businesses and created jobs at home. In his noble views, “this move has given the Umuaka community a deep sense of pride and development across Imo State.”
The Uba Umuaka born Akalite further noted that, “We have no other town except Umuaka and we should all know that it is our responsibility to develop the town. Today Umuaka has the second largest market in the entire Imo State and we should all tap from this God-given opportunity and excel.”
Opara equally used the Umuaka Times medium and invited other businessmen and women from Imo and other states across Nigeria to come and invest in Umuaka. “We are very hospitable and we have this behavior of making our visitors and tenants feel like one of us. People who come to Umuaka hardly find it hard to leave,” Opara concluded.
The call for successful Akalites to relocate their businesses or open a branch of the business in Umuaka has always been made and from Umuaka Times findings, many Akalites have implemented such plans while others have shown interests to follow in the same pattern. It is not only Umuaka people that are tapping from this opportunity to invest at home, some other businessmen and women from neighbouring communities and beyond have equally brought their businesses to Umuaka.
It can be recalled that a couple of months ago, the wife of Mr Chris Opara, Eziada Chinwe Opara floated a-never-before-seen women’s boutique known as Chi Chi Boutique. The fashion house exclusively deals on designer clothings, jewelries, shoes and more and it is located at C.C COIN Plaza Uba Umuaka.
