Buhari appoints Onyema Nwachukwu army spokesman.
1 min readThe General Buhari-led Federal Government of Nigeria has named a top military general of Igbo extraction Brigadie-General Onyema Nwachukwu the new spokesman for the Nigerian Army. This announcement was made public last week Thursday after the Chief of Army Staff, Maj.-Gen. Farouk Yahaya endorsed and approved the appointment of Nwachukwu as the new chief image maker of the Nigerian Army.
Umuaka Times gathered that before his appointment, the general was the acting director of Defence Information at the Defence Headquarters. In addition to the exulted position, Gen Nwachukwu was also the deputy director of Public Relations, Headquarters Theatre Command of Operations.
Gen Nwachukwu who holds a Masters Degree in International Affairs and Strategic Studies, is a graduate of University of Ibadan and Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA), Post-Graduate School Kaduna. He also obtained a post-graduate diploma in Advertising and Public Relations from the Abuja based International Institute of Journalism.
Nwachukwu takes over from Brigadier General Mohammed Yerima. It can be recalled that General Mohammed Yerima was appointed in February2021 by the late Chief of Army Staff, Ibrahim Attahiru who died in a plane crash a couple of weeks ago.
