Mrs Calista Ekechi (nee Ubasonye, a devout Christian mother, social worker and the “Mmiri Na Ezoro Oha 1” (the rain that falls for the people) of Umulolo Ugbele Akah, Njaba LGA, Imo State has bagged a prestigious merit award for her selfless services and contributions to the growth of the Abuja Arch-Diocese of Roman Catholic Church in Nigeria. The award which was presented to Mrs Calista Ekechi by His Lordship, Archbishop Ignatius Ayau Kaigama, took place on Sunday June 25, 2023 at the church premises.

For those who may not know, Mrs Calista Ekechi has been a member of the church even before she got married some years back. Umuaka Times was informed by a highly dependable church source that she has also made immeasurable contributions towards the growth of the church. Mrs Ekechi and her husband, Mr Mike Ekechi, a native of Obinze of Imo State have been fully making different contributions and giving several support services to the church from the onset.

It was this kind gesture that the church has now come to acknowledge with a merit award of high repute. Mrs Ekechi described the award as a call for more duties and services. She told Umuaka Times that she and her husband would like to dedicate the award to the Almighty God, Nigerian widows and the church in general.

Mrs Calista Ekechi was recently in the news in Umuaka Times after she attracted a pipe borne water project to her immediate community of Umulolo Ugbele-Akah. It was because of the water project that Umuaka Times named her the “Mmiri Na Ezoro Oha 1” of Ugbele Akah.
