Chief Appear restores electricity supply in Ekeukwu Ibele.
2 min readAn Ibele Autonomous Community born businessman, philanthropist and top community leader, Chief Chidi Osuagwu popularly known as Chief Appear has restored electricity supply in the Ekeukwu side of Ibele Autonomous Community in Njaba LGA Imo State. Chief Osuagwu confirmed this to Umuaka Times late last week in an exclusive chat he had with the newspaper. From what the local affairs correspondent of Umuaka Times gathered, it was reported that the electricity supply in Ekeukwu was disconnected due to an accumulation of heavy NEPA bills.
Just few days to Christmas when the community would witness an influx of visitors, returning family members and friends, words got to Chief Appear that if proper interventions were not put in place, the community was going to celebrate the 2023 Christmas in total darkness.
Considering the fact that the electricity supply was disconnected due to bills owed by the local users, he considered the economic situation of things in the present day Nigeria and Imo State in particular and then made a request. “Get me the bill,” he told the youths of Ekeukwu. The bill which amounted to N500,000 was presented to him. Instantly, Chief Appear effected the successful transfer of N500,000 to the electricity agency otherwise known as NEPA.
While speaking with Umuaka Times on the kind gesture, Chief Appear disclosed that he would never allow such a heavy trauma of celebrating Christmas without electricity to befall his people.
Umuaka Times findings showed that when Chief Appear paid the NEPA bill, it was like the Biblical let there be light and there was light in Ekeukwu community Ibele.
