Chief Linus Obimezie Egeolu Goes Home at 95.

The revered Chief Udo Linus Obimezie Egeolu, affectionately known as Ugo Bu Eze 1 Worldwide, has peacefully departed at the age of 95. His formidable legacy will endure, and his contributions will be honored by the community of Umudurunaji Odoshiwe Umunkuta Amiyi Akah in Njaba LGA, Imo State, as they prepare to give him a heartfelt farewell.

On June 25 and 26, 2025, Akalites, Imolites, and Nigerians from all corners, including those living in Europe and America, will gather in Umudurunaji Odoshiwe Umunkuta Amiyi Akah, Njaba LGA, Imo State, to pay their final respects to this esteemed community leader. It is noteworthy that Chief Egeolu recently celebrated his 95th birthday on January 4, 2025, during a widely attended event held at Amiyi Akah Stadium.

A service of songs and an all-night vigil will usher in the farewell celebrations, to be held at his residence in Umudurunaji Odoshiwe Umunkuta Amiyi Akah. The service of songs is scheduled for Wednesday, June 25, 2025, beginning at 8 PM. The following day, Thursday, June 26, 2025, will feature grand farewell ceremonies. The body of the late Nnaoma Di Ebube will be collected from the mortuary at 7 AM, arriving at his ancestral home by 8 AM.

From 8 AM to 9:40 AM, family, friends, and well-wishers will have the opportunity to pay their final respects as his remains lie in state. A requiem Mass will take place at St. Paul’s Catholic Church Amiyi Akah at 10 AM, followed by interment at his compound in Umudurunaji Odoshiwe Umunkuta Amiyi Akah at 1 PM. A grand reception and entertainment for guests will commence immediately afterward at the same venue. Chief Udo Linus Obimezie Egeolu leaves behind a grieving family, including his children and a multitude of others who will miss his leadership and presence both in the family and the community at large.

A burial committee, chaired by Dr. Austin Agbahiwe, has been diligently working behind the scenes to ensure a seamless and unforgettable sendoff for their brother, father, husband, and grandfather. Through online meetings and effective delegation of responsibilities, the committee is on course to create a fitting tribute to this remarkable individual.

From what Umuaka Times gathered, the burial is intended to evoke the spirit of a carnival, celebrating the vibrant life of the late patriarch of the Egeolu dynasty.
