Chinecherem finally dies in Abuja hospital.

Mr Chinecherem Ikechukwu Unachukwu of Ugbele Okwu, the Ugbele Akah boy who needed an urgent kidney transplant has finally died. He died at the Zenith Hospital in Abuja after a long battle with kidney issues.

Chinecherem died in the early hours of Saturday August 30, 2025 after being on admission in an Abuja hospital for a period of three weeks.

The case of Chenecherem was a big blow to everyone starting from his family members to the outside world that have been contributing money to carry out an effective medical care for the 23 year old engineering student whose father died about two years back. It can be recalled that it was the case of the late Chinecherem that brought the Enugu based social media influencer popularly known as Okwuruora to Umuaka for the purpose of taking a video recording of the sick boy to enable him use his platform to seek financial help on behalf of the family.

Umuaka Times correspondents in Abuja gathered that a kidney donor had already been identified and provided by the family and the hospital was waiting for Chinecherem to be discharged from the intensive care unit for them to do cross-matching of the kidney to that of Chinecherem and carry out other necessary tests as well, before the boy gave up the ghost. Okwuruora, Umuaka Times was reliably informed by highly dependable family sources visited Chinecherem in Abuja and promised to fund his education. Okwuruora was said to have been devastated yesterday when he heard the news of the passage of Chinecherem.

As at press time last week, Umuaka Times gathered that efforts were being made to transport his remains to his home town in Ugbele Umuaka Njaba LGA Imo State for burial.
