The mother of the late Mr Chinecherem Unachukwu who simply gave her name as Nkiruka from Ajalli town in Orumba North Local Government Area of Anambra State has issued a vote of thanks to all the persons, organizations, churches, medical teams, students and many others who helped via one way or another in the last two years towards the treatment of her late son Chinecherem Unachukwu.

Nkiruka who arrived the country a couple of weeks ago from her base in UAE in an emotionally laden voice, first used the opportunity and thanked God for all the things that had happened. In her message, she first thanked the management and staff of Umuaka Times newspapers that at several occasions filmed the late Chinecherem during the time the family was soliciting for financial assistance.
In her own words while thanking others, she put it thus; “I appreciate Uche Iwuchukwu, Uche Nnuji, Eze Justin Ezeala, Franklyn Awuzie, Chidi Obi and other people from Lagos and my colleagues and friends from UAE.”
The woman who is mourning her son continued, “I appreciate Uche Madueke, my family, my sweet brother Ndubuisi Okafor, the entire Ugbele people and many others from many churches. My bosses at UAE and most especially, Mazi Okwuruora Ndi Igbo. Okwuruora did not only organize a successful fund-raising but he also went to Abuja to see my son Chinecherem at the hospital.
Others she mentioned in her appreciation message include MC Shed, Mathias Ezeaku, Humble TV and other content creators both here in Nigeria and abroad for all their contributions. The message also conveyed a powerful prayer where she asked God to bless in 100 folds any person who through one way or another made some sacrifices to make sure her son Chinecherem stayed alive.
The late Mr Chinecherem Unachukwu from Umulolo Ugbele Akah was a 23 year old electrical engineering student at Yabatech in Lagos State. About two years ago, He was diagnosed with kidney failure and kidney transplant was recommended. Due to initial lack and the late arrival of funds, on the Saturday, 30th of August 2025, he died at the Zenith Medical and Kidney Centre Abuja.
The death of Chinecherem Unachukwu has sparked widespread condolences and conversations about the need for sustainable healthcare solutions in Umuaka and Nigeria. Chinecherem’s story, marked by resilience in the face of dire medical circumstances, captured the attention of many, with prominent philanthropist Okwuluora Ndi Igbo who led the fundraising efforts for the ill-fated treatment of the late Chinecherem. Unfortunately, despite these efforts, Chinecherem’s condition proved insurmountable. His remains had since been buried in Ugbele Okwu of Ugbele Akah Njaba LGA, Imo State on Wednesday 3rd of September 2025.
