The early morning rain of Friday 8 August 2025 was indeed expected by the locals in Umuaka community as it has been raining daily within the locality. As early as 7:30 am, the rain began again after raining heavily on the previous day, thereby triggering a “stay at home order” for family and friends who had planned to be part of the burial ceremonies of the late Uba Umuaka born Mr Virginus Chinwendu Okoro also known as Austin.

According to the burial plans, the remains of the late youthful Okoro who died a couple of weeks ago were to leave the mortuary around 7 am and arrive at the family house around 8 am for lying in state but the rain took about three hours of the burial plans which made the burial ceremonies to take another dimension. By the time Umuaka Times local affairs correspondents arrived at the family compound of the deceased in Ndiuhu Uba Umuaka, the ambulance vehicle had just arrived almost immediately with the corpse of Mr Virginus Okoro whose sudden death is still a big problem many are yet to understand. Lying in state kicked off immediately.
Family members first paid their homage and followed by others until it was time to start the church service by the Christian Pentecostal Mission CPM, which took place in the family compound. During this time, two family members gave their tributes on the life and times of the man late Mr Virginus Chinwendu Okoro.
The graveside sermon anchored by a senior pastor from the Christian Pentecostal Mission touched everybody; the officiating pastor spoke about life and death, repentance and eternity and finally extoled the virtues of the deceased. He urged Christians to emulate Jesus Christ and live their lives by the Bible principles.
By the time the pastor concluded his sermon, church members sang some songs and the body of the late 56 year old Mr Virginus Chinwendu (Austin) Okoro was laid to rest, thereby signaling the end of an era for a man who just did the burial of his late mother late Mrs Ezinne Christiana Okoro some few months ago.
