Billionaire philanthropist and high profile American based legal luminary, Dr Chris Nwachukwu, popularly known as Chriwowo (the Omeiheukwu) has on behalf of his wife, Lolo Ijeoma Nwachukwu modified the contract agreement the couple  awarded to an indigenous construction firm, Nechikam Precision Services Ltd last month. In a press statement which was issued last week by Dr Nwachukwu and made available to newsmen over the new development concerning the contract, he explained in details the reason for the amendment and modification of the contract. In his own words, Dr Nwachukwu wrote:

“When I sent a message to measure the place to be tarred, I told them to measure it from Ama Abel Izunwa joining the tarred road to Christopher Agburum’s house -at the road boundary between Umuezikeoha and Umuezeala. I was not there when it was measured.”

According to Chief Nwachukwu, “They engineers told me that the measurement is 430 meters, which we signed the contract. They later told me that the 430 meters ends at Jude Udeagwu’s house. The engineers said that the distance between Jude Udeagwu’s house to where I wanted the road to end is additional 85 meters, which will cost additional 5.4 million naira.”

Road works going on somewhere in Imo State.

The new development confirms that “The road to be tarred now is 515 meters, which is more than half a kilometer. The total contract price now is 25.4 million naira and we have signed a modified contract. The contract is now expected to be executed within 7 weeks instead of 6 weeks originally agreed.” It is expected that with some things being equal, the road project will be commissioned by next month during Christmas celebration in Umuaka.

From the day Dr Nwachukwu awarded the contract, many Akalites including HRH Eze Henry Ojinnaka have congratulated him for the kind gesture and prayed for him and his entire family.
