Construction firm channels flood to Umuaka football field.

The German civil engineering firm constructing the Orlu Owerri Road has channeled the gutter of the state owned road to the football field at Holy Rosary Primary School otherwise known as Njaba Stadium. For some weeks now, the rumour has been going on in the community about the decision of the firm to channel the gutter to the premises of the primary school.
An Umuaka Times reporter who visited the stadium confirmed that the entire football pitch and the whole compound of the school are now a big mess. Mr Dike Uchechukwu Kenneth, a footballer and the coach of Father Eburuaja FC, told Umuaka Times that football training at the stadium has seriously been stalled as a result of the flood from the gutter. “The whole place is in a bad shape. You can’t even walk because of the mud. The only reason we are able to train today is that it has not rained here for some days. Any day it rains, nobody will be able to enter here again.”

Chief Mike Nwaikwu, one of the top sports administrators in Umuaka condemned the act and asked why the stakeholders in Umuaka are keeping quiet over the entire episode. Chief Nwaikwu who is also a principal of a school raised fears over the health of the pupils in the school and lamented that the development will halt the growth of sporting activities in Umuaka.
