Covid19: Fear grips Akahlites in South Africa.

2 min read

In the previous edition of Umuaka Times last week, the newspaper reported how Hon Obinna Brainbox Orgazi after going for a Coronavirus test in South Africa, decided to make public his result. The reason for this according to Brainbox, was to let Nigerians realize that Coronavirus is real. Many people, especially the youths and some parents across Njaba LGA who argue that Covid19 is a scam by the Federal Government to siphon funds, were shocked when they heard that Brainbox had tested positive to Coronavirus. Family members, friends and colleagues as well as business associates of Hon Brainbox Orgazi who heard the news, wondered why he would by intention, bring social discrimination to himself but unknown to them, by the time he released the result of his test to the public, he was already recovering from the Coronavirus infection.

While speaking to Umuaka Times correspondent in South Africa, Brainbox raised a serious alarm over the health of Akalites living in South Africa. According to him, over 30 of them living in the Balfour Park area of the country  have already tested positive to Covid19. This was a figure he gave to Umuaka Times last week and as it stands now, there is a likelihood that the number may have risen to 40 or more.

In the heat of this, an Akalite from Amiyi who lived in South Africa fell sick and died a few days ago. Another Akalite from Isiozi also fell sick and died within an interval of few days. These deaths have so far sparked up fear among Akalites who live in South Africa. Could the deaths be Covid19 related or a mere coincidence? As at press time last week, Umuaka Times could not lay hands on any medical certification that the two men died of Covid19 but close sources that spoke with Umuaka Times claimed that each of them showed some symptoms of Covid19.This cannot still be considered as Covid19 because the infection itself, has symptoms of malaria like ailment.

Since this two incidents happened, many Akalites living in South Africa are said to be living in fear especially those who had close contacts with the dead men. Their fear may not be reasonable at last if indeed none of these men died of complications arising from Covid19.

On the other hand, Umuaka families whose children live in South Africa, have also been making calls to their children to ask after them and urge them to run Covid19 test as soon as possisble. As it stands now, if indeed about 30 Akalites tested positive to Covid19 in South Africa already, something needs to be urgently done because the number is likely to be increasing on daily basis.

According to the findings made by Umuaka Times, Akalites based in South Africa have minimized the way they move about and interact with each other. As it still stands, going for test for Covid19 is still the best approach.
